If you missed the San Marino Classics, don’t worry, you can still attend the granddaddy of them all, the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
This is the 69th concours of the most prestige classic automobiles completion in the world. It’s not a concours of speed but rather like the name suggests, elegance. The classic cars are judged for their elegant style, their originality and accuracy.
The Concours d’Elegance will be held next Sunday, August 18 at the famed Pebble Beach Golf Course. Driving in thru the stunning 17-Mile Drive is an added bonus. The Concours is the finale of a week-long celebration of automobiles in Monterey, California. Some of the events from next Tuesday thru Sunday include Concurs, Forums, Races and Rallies and Auctions. You know there will be major bucks with auctions presented by Gooding & Company, Mecum Auctions and RM Sotheby’s.
Of course, this is also a great opportunity for concept cars and new cars debuts. While some of the events are free, the main event Concours is not. Prices range from $450 for general admission to $3K for the Chairman’s Hospitality at the Lodge. It is pricey but being a car enthusiast, especially if you prefer classics, you should at least go there once. By the way, the famous guy with his signature denim shirt will be a speaker at a forum this year although he will most likely sport a jacket. Hope to see some of you there.
Here are some pictures from last year’s event:
