Porsche Club of America (or PCA) Los Angeles Region held their 58th annual Concours d’Elegance last Sunday at the Santa Monica Museum of Flying. This event was free and open to any Porsche enthusiasts: You don’t have to be a PCA member and you don’t even have to own a Porsche. Although if you are lucky enough to take a Porsche to the event, you will feel right at home as soon as you arrive. There are literally Porsches of various vintages and that was just at the parking lot.
Being a Concours, there were a wide collection of Porsches, from classic 356s to the modern day 918 supercar. There was also a 992 debut for those that have not seen it. No Concours was complete without the customary contests. This year the competition was in seven categories; Full Concours, Street, Ubergang, Ganz Ubergang, Unrestored, Wash & Shine, and Special categories. You could not miss proud owners on their knees putting in last minute finishing touches to make sure their cars are spotless. If that seems too much work for you, don’t worry, there was a display only section available for showcasing the Porsches that were not competing.
It was a festive event, with raffles and food trucks as well as many vendor booths and sponsors. Looks like the kids and fidos also enjoyed the event. Thanks to PCA LA Region for bringing us a fun fill day for the Porsche fans.
Cool show, I know, I was there. I think this water cooled new stuff is just a fad, watch for good ol’ air cooled to make a comeback!!
